Betty O'Barley and Harry O'Hay invite you to…the best wedding ever

Pupils interacting with a story scene

Reception's topic is Farming. One of our stories this term is The Scarecrows Wedding by Julia Donaldson.

Betty O'Barley and Harry O'Hay invite you to…the best wedding ever, the best wedding yet. The wedding that no-one will ever forget!

Betty O'Barley and Harry O'Hay are scarecrows on the farm who fall in love. With the help of the animals on the farm they manage to collect some items needed for their amazing wedding! But when Harry O'Hay is late back from collecting flowers the farmer introduces a new male scarecrow, Reginald Rake. He is rude, he is selfish and a very dangerous scarecrow. Will Harry O'Hay make it home in time to save and marry his bride Betty O'Barley!

Jason shared "The animals all share their things with the scarecrows and that's being nice. Sharing is caring."

Ameeya said "The scarecrows hug and kiss, they love each other lots. They have to make a list of all the things they need to get married."

Daniel shouted "The new man scarecrow is a bad man and he lives the lady on fire! The farmer doesn't know he's naughty."

Our story tray encourages the children to use the resources to retell their favourite story in their own words.
