Year 1 are reading…. The Gruffalo!

"A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood. A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good. Walk further into the deep dark wood and discover what happens when the quick-thinking mouse comes face to face with an owl, a snake and a hungry gruffalo..." 
 
The children have loved reading the Gruffalo and have enjoyed learning some actions to the story. We have talked about how it's important to use our minds to solve problems and to find solutions, no matter how difficult we find them. The children have been super at identifying the rhyming words and are looking forward to using their Talk For Writing story map to create a character description. 
 
Neveah says, "the Gruffalo has purple prickles all over his back and a poisonous wart on the end of his nose." 
 
Carter thinks, "the Gruffalo is big and has brown fur. The mouse is smaller and smart." 
 
Alisha says, "the mouse is really smart and tricks the Gruffalo even though he is really little."
