Which pet would you like from the zoo?
A little boy wants a pet, but the zoo keeps sending him animals that just won't make good pets.
An elephant is too heavy, a giraffe is too tall, and a snake is too scary! Until, at last, they send the perfect pet. Dear Zoo is another much loved classic picture book that never gets old.
Prince states, “I would like a monkey because they are cheeky and jumpy!”
Anna May agrees with the book, explaining, “I would love a puppy because they are cute and fluffy.”
Ameeya says, “I would like a dolphin because they are smart and can swim.”
Most children agreed that they would not want a shark or a lion because they are dangerous and have big teeth!
Year 1 have produced some excellent work so far using the book as inspiration! We have spoken a lot about what kind of animals we would like, describing why they would or would not make good pets. Both classes are writing letters to the zoo asking for their own pet, stating which pets would be good, but more importantly which ones they would not like and why! We have thoroughly enjoyed this book and have enjoyed exploring adjectives that we can use to describe the different animals!
