Would you like to grow dragons?

Year 2 have been reading their DEAR book, The Boy Who Grew Dragons, this term.

So far, the children have learnt that Tomas and his Grandfather like to look after his Grandfather’s garden. One day, Tomas decides to take one of the unusual fruits home. This fruit turns out to be a Pitaya, known as a dragon fruit. However, soon a tiny dragon emerges! Tomas doesn’t know what to do and suddenly finds himself hiding the dragon from everyone else and tries to look after this creature, named Flicker.

We are just at the part of the story where the dragon has cause a bit of a commotion in the library and Tomas is trying to keep Flicker a secret still.

Alicia and Emmanuel have made predictions on what is going to happen next…

“I think his Dad is going to find out that he has a dragon and ground him,” thinks Alicia.

Emmanuel has predicted that “Tomas and Flicker will find more dragons!”
