Year 2 Step Into the Shoes of Their Classroom Objects!

In Year 2, we’ve been having lots of fun with our latest Talk for Writing journey, inspired by the brilliant book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. This imaginative story has sparked a wave of creativity in our classrooms and now it's the children’s turn to give a voice to our classroom objects!

As part of their independent write, the children are becoming authors themselves, writing journals from the point of view of a chosen classroom object. From bossy whiteboard pens to forgotten glue sticks, our pupils are putting themselves in the shoes of these items, imagining their feelings, frustrations and funny moments.

We can’t wait to read the final drafts and see just how imaginative Year 2 can be. One thing is for sure… the classroom will never look the same again!
