The Gruffalo!

The children have loved reading The Gruffalo by one of their favourite authors, Julia Donaldson.

In Literacy, we have learnt about the features of a story and started to describe the characters using different adjectives. We have worked very hard to form our own sentences when we are talking about the characters.

In our different Talk for Writing groups, we also changed one of the characters. First we looked at different woodland animals and then had a vote for which one we wanted. We chose bears and hedgehogs to replace the Gruffalo! We had fun deciding on new features our new character would have like shiny, red eyes and long, sharp claws!

Jason: 'The mouse is my favourite character because he isn't scared of anything!'

Abdul: 'I like it when mouse told the Gruffalo that everyone was afraid of him!'

Paisley: 'I liked it when the Gruffalo told mouse, 'My favourite food is Gruffalo Crumble!'

Muhammad: 'I loved making Gruffalo crumble, it tastes so good!'
